With over 32 years' experience as a paediatric speech pathologist, she has helped children and their families navigate a wide range of communication, learning, literacy and behavioural challenges. She is committed to empowering your child and their support network to reach their full potential, building invaluable self-esteem and confidence along the way. |
Jen's Approach
Jen has a genuine desire to inspire and guide children and their families through their individual learning and communication challenges. This is evident in her energy, warmth and authenticity. Her philosophy is that for a child to engage in learning, one must find out what works uniquely for them and use these strengths to build skills. This approach supports a child's self-esteem and allows them to acknowledge their strengths.
Background
Prior to opening her Sydney practice, Jen operated a private practice on the Sunshine Coast for 16 years. She also worked across the areas of health, education, assessment, research and development, both interstate and overseas, and has an extensive background in developing successful learning assessments and resources. Many of these are currently utilised throughout Australia and overseas, including the Dyslexia Screening Test, Adult Dyslexia Screening Test, Launch Into Reading Success, Test of Pretend Play, UK CELF 3 and CELF Preschool.
She was also a finalist in the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women's Network Businesswoman of the Year Awards (2013), based on her development of the Eye Can Spell programme.
Qualifications & Professional Development
Jen maintains ongoing professional development as a paediatric speech pathologist through conferences and workshops, and holds the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Speech Therapy, University of Queensland (Postgraduate study in Brain Research)
- Currently completing a Masters of Neurodivergence, University of Wollongong
Speaking & Training
Jen is also a motivated, determined and knowledgeable speaker who educates and empowers parents and teachers to look at learning from a different angle.
Her innovative, practical and surprisingly simple strategies have been successfully used by parents, teachers and children across Australia. As a result, hundreds of children who previously “struggled” to learn are now enjoying the experience of effective and satisfying learning.
